Fear of Success/Failure- Are You Sabotaging Your Life?

It’s amazing how many people are afraid to fail and in return live in a mediocre life avoiding success. It’s amazing to me to witness the potential on street corners and clubs. To most people these people are hopeless but to me I see fear. I see fear of change. I see winners with a losers mind set. I had a long conversation with my cousin and while she’s border line genius no one told her how to fail. She’s afraid to try anything because she doesn’t want to fail. She brought light to a common issue in our community. If this bright young woman that’s working full time and in college fulltime feels this way, there must be others.

Sadly, No one told her that sometimes she would try her hardest and it still wouldn’t be enough. Someone failed to tell her that when she fails to not live in her failure but get up from that failure with a lesson learned. Parents are pushing kids to succeed but leaving out the very important details about failure. This is indeed the reason we see teen suicide, depression and disobedient behavior. No body’s saying that every kid, teenager and young adult have to be perfect.

I figured things out on my own. I realized there was no perfect life, just the one you decided to live. My mother did always say do your best and if that’s not enough, that’s ok you’re good at something else. Our children need to be encouraged to succeed but they must also be trained to fail. The need to never feel ashamed of trying because in that very moment they tried they succeeded.

Our society isn’t failing, we’re simply not trying. We don’t care to succeed because we can’t get over the thought that we may fail. Dream chasing is going after what you want repeatedly without apology. Goal reaching is attaining what you want without excuses.

No matter what you want in life whether it’s the corporate boardroom, flashing lights, business owner, blue collar worker or whatever. Failure is a part of life and you are not alone. We all fall down the key is to brush yourself off and try not to fall in the same place again.
