Keep Your Damn Comments To Yourself: Top 5 Things Not To Say To A Single Mother

Everyone has an opinion about the parenting methods and lives of single mothers. Even single mother’s have something to say about single mother’s. Well Mommish.com has come up with a list of things you should never say to a single mother.

Warning: A woman that’s working and running a household solo is likely to curse you out.

In cased you’ve missed it, between the countless op-ed pieces and numerous sets of statistics being thrown around, single motherhood is on the rise. More than 50 percent of of kids born to women under the age of 30 are born to single moms. I promise, that’s the only statistic I’m going to throw at you.
This weekend, Katie Roiphe wrote a piece in the New York Times entitled, “In Defense of Single Motherhood.” Since I just gave my own feelings on being a single mommy earlier this week, I thought I would take this opportunity to give everyone a short lesson in appropriate conversation starters with single moms.
Like with any other parent on the planet, making wide, sweeping assumptions about a single mom based on a media narrative or a couple of research studies is sure to be more than a little offensive. Moms, whether they’re married or not, are individuals. We’re all different. And yet, these tired prejudices always find a way to worm back into the conversation when it comes to single moms.

YELL Confidence (Youth Empowered Learning & Leadership), one of Saving Our Daughters’ core initiatives, sparks community engagement, public awareness, and the dedication to empower teens. It supports SOD’s mission by working directly with focused groups of youth and young adults to engage them in creative learning and leadership experiences. The YELL Confidence groups are then charged with using the powerful messages they’ve learned and sharing their unique experiences to help millions of peers take power away from esteem slayers, grow a vigorous sense of self worth, and lead fiercely confident lives.

This “I AM HERE” campaign with K. Michelle specifically funds SOD’s work with late teens and younger adults. Through critical learning tools and very eager adult allies (like songstress K.Michelle and entrepreneur Mimi Faust), young participants are equipped with heightened awareness of self worth issues and immediate ways to create positive impact in their own communities.

5 Genius Fashion Ideas for Pregnant Women

Having a pregnant body is not only different from your normal figure, it is also changing constantly. For nine months, you get bigger everyday.

Dressing a pregnant body, therefore, can be challenging. Thanks to some genius fashion ideas, however, pregnant women have better choices than wearing sweats everyday. Here are a few:

1. Yoga Pants

Yoga pants are not only comfortable, they also make you look trim, slim and athletic. Plus, they match just about anything.

2. Tummy Sleeves

For those of you who don’t want to spend much money buying maternity pants, tummy sleeves really save the day. These stretchy bands wrap around your growing belly comfortably over unbuttoned pants to let you keep wearing old pants with a smooth middle.

3. Support Belts

Your lower back hurts as your belly gets bigger. These belts wrap tightly around your waist and help hold up your belly, giving your back the support you need.

4. Secret Fit Shaper

Pregnant women want a sleek silhouette too. This under garment work like body shapers, but also allows enough room for the belly. They are perfect for any dress up event.

5. Maternity Bridesmaid Dresses

3 Tips to Develop a Positive Mindset for Achievement

At some point in your life you have to roll up your sleeves to get dirty and immersed in hard work. Not every blessing will fall in your lap effortlessly. Take your progress seriously. So many wonder why other’s are in better situations. They probably bust their butt to get where they are, They may pray when you don’t feel like it and work when you said your tired. Don’t complain about what you don’t have if you aren’t willing to do what’s necessary to get what you want. – Go Get Your Blessings…

3 Tips to Develop a Positive

Mindset for Achievement

  • Accept responsibility: You are powerful beyond measure. You are full of potential that you haven’t began to access because you haven’t been challenged to use those skills. Accept that you are equipped to progress. Don’t back down from challenges. It’s ok not to know something, but it is not ok to go on being ignorant. There is a book and a google search for everything. Do the research…
  • Be willing to take risk: Not every opportunity will be simple. You must be willing and ready to move on an opportunity. Many opportunities present themselves before we THINK we’re ready. Truth is you’ll never know until you try.
  • Boss Talk with Female
    Executives Panelist
  • Make your atmosphere positive: It’s a bit difficult for a rose to flourish in concrete. Make your world a haven for your ambition. Those around you should feed you encouragement. Not just by pumping your head up (that’s nice too) but by their actions. Find inspiration from your friends and family. Inspirations is everywhere. Find it and use it to keep pushing towards your goals. Witnessing others overcome tough situations will give you courage to keep moving in your journey.

Find a nice spot to chill with your date or significant other

Dates can be a bit awkward even for married folks. Today when women grossly out number men, no woman wants to sit in a nightlife establishment out numbered with her man. Not saying that all women are gunning for your man but it’s about relaxing and having a good time.

My husband and  I have checked out a few spots but nothing really stuck. The crowds where either too old, too young or the places too expensive.

Many of the best places aren’t advertised, making it harder to find these neighborhood gems.
Luckily we found one by following a popular Chicago comedian Torris Brown. We found Linger Martini Bar 4142 West 167th Street  Oak Forest, IL 60452.

Laugh Out Loud Wednesday is powered by What’s Funny Live and offers a FREE comedy show weekly. You pay for nothing but delicious drinks (reasonable prices). We always have our choice of bar seating or floor seating (never standing room only).  There is even a after party…

Soooo, this is our spot!!! Every couple needs one. Great for a midweek get away from the kids and out the house. Just chill out and enjoy each others company.

If you have a place that you frequent, please share it with us in the comment section of this post.

(CNN) — Google’s first female engineer, Marissa Mayer, has made a career out of bucking expectations — and she did so once again on Monday by announcing she will leave Google to be the new CEO of Yahoo, the struggling company that once was Google’s main competitor.
The tech world reacted with shock to the news. But it’s perhaps time everyone got used to the idea that Mayer, who was Google’s 20th employee and who is credited with the success of many of its most famous products, isn’t the kind of person who does only what people expect her to do.
“There is such a stereotype of the hacker — the pasty-skinned guy with the thick glasses, the pocket protector, the blue glow coming off of the monitor … people think if they’re going to be good at this, that’s what they need to be,” Mayer told CNN in an interview earlier this year.
