Fear of Success/Failure- Are You Sabotaging Your Life?

It’s amazing how many people are afraid to fail and in return live in a mediocre life avoiding success. It’s amazing to me to witness the potential on street corners and clubs. To most people these people are hopeless but to me I see fear. I see fear of change. I see winners with a losers mind set. I had a long conversation with my cousin and while she’s border line genius no one told her how to fail. She’s afraid to try anything because she doesn’t want to fail. She brought light to a common issue in our community. If this bright young woman that’s working full time and in college fulltime feels this way, there must be others.

Sadly, No one told her that sometimes she would try her hardest and it still wouldn’t be enough. Someone failed to tell her that when she fails to not live in her failure but get up from that failure with a lesson learned. Parents are pushing kids to succeed but leaving out the very important details about failure. This is indeed the reason we see teen suicide, depression and disobedient behavior. No body’s saying that every kid, teenager and young adult have to be perfect.

I figured things out on my own. I realized there was no perfect life, just the one you decided to live. My mother did always say do your best and if that’s not enough, that’s ok you’re good at something else. Our children need to be encouraged to succeed but they must also be trained to fail. The need to never feel ashamed of trying because in that very moment they tried they succeeded.

Our society isn’t failing, we’re simply not trying. We don’t care to succeed because we can’t get over the thought that we may fail. Dream chasing is going after what you want repeatedly without apology. Goal reaching is attaining what you want without excuses.

No matter what you want in life whether it’s the corporate boardroom, flashing lights, business owner, blue collar worker or whatever. Failure is a part of life and you are not alone. We all fall down the key is to brush yourself off and try not to fall in the same place again.

You’re the Star of Your Success Story

Good Morning Power Player,

Hope your day is progressing well and off to a good start. I’ve had my tea, checked my emails and read the news for this morning. Got to stay up on what’s happening in the world. The NATO protestors are in full swing in the CHI. Facebook is going public today and Kanye and Kim are officially together.

If you haven’t heard by now I’m planning the first of many success centered events for women and girls. I’m very proud to announce Boss Talk with Female Executives and Entrepreneurs. There is no feeling like pursuing an idea that was once just a concept floating in your head. Although, I’ve done other events this is my first solo event.

It’s all on me but times like this are when faith is important. I’m confident that God wouldn’t bring me to this event,  which is about unity and empowerment, without knowing I’d deliver.

We learn by doing.” Aristotle

That pretty much explains it. The only way to know if an idea will be successful is by actually pursuing it. We must do something to learn. We must do something to succeed.

Idea’s are like relationships. They seem great in our head but once you start living the idea the obstacles start popping up. You can either decide to push through it because you know it’s worth it. Or you can count your loses and get out why you still have your sanity LOL.

Keep pushing at all cost but don’t forget to THINK and PLAN. Moving forward with no direction is like sailing in the ocean without a map. You may end up somewhere you didn’t intend to be.

Have a productive weekend!!!

I’m Conceited, I Gotta Reason: Pep Talking Yourself

You’re week is almost over but your goals shouldn’t be. We all have career goals ,or at least we should, that act as indicators that we’re headed in the right direction. No matter what your goals professional or personal you should always pep talk yourself. Yes, I said pep talk!!!

Before me and my girls go out for a night on the town we pop in our “Feeling Our self Music”. It usually consists of Beyonce, Juke Music and anything that says we’re fly young women. There are plenty of songs to hit the club but not too many for going to work. So for this you need to create your own mental theme music.

Everyday, situation and occasion has it’s own theme. Choose accordingly.

According to Successconsciousness.com affirmations have to be repeated with attention, conviction, interest and desire.

Here’s a few affirmations to help you stay pumped with purpose!

I‘m fully prepared to handle any obstacle that comes my way

I’m not perfect at everything but I’m amazing at (insert what you’re good at).

No one has more control of me than I have over myself

I’m too Fly to Fail

I’ve come to far to give up now

So you get the point. You must speak to yourself with confidence and respect if you expect others to have confidence in you and respect for you. Practice pep talking yourself multiple times a day before you know it you’ll be an affirmation Guru.

What’s your affirmation for today?
