Small Businesses Supporting Mastermind Over Wine

I have to express my sincerest gratitude for the Mastermind Over Wine Sponsors and supporters.
Mastermind over Wine (4)
Yassa Senegalese Restaurant is located on 3511 S. King Drive in the Historic Bronzeville neighborhood. Personally, this is my favorite strip of the city. The enormous brownstones that lace King Drive all have unique personalities, like the architect wanted each family to feel special.
That feeling is supported by the Yassa dining experience.
The Senegal inspired restaurant has tons of personality with pictures of Maya Angelou on the walls, the food is raved about on Yelp, by Check Please and customers. There was even a video of kid testifying to how great the food is. You know kids are picky as all hell.
This is a family owned business, that takes great pride in serving the Southside community. Let’s spread the word about their phenomenal food and service.
Because you can’t have an event without offering something for free, I contacted Jokes and Notes and Revival to offer tickets to one of their weekend shows.
Have you ever been to a comedy show? Do yourself a favor and go for a date, girls night or with family to one of these local businesses.
Jokes and Notes has a full bar, kitchen and space for you and your whole crew. You might get roasted if you sit too close to the stage, but it’s worth the laugh. Live on the edge.
Jokes and Notes  responded immediately when I asked for their support. The owner Mary Lindsey personally handed me the tickets last week and she took a selfie with me.
Three Mastermind Over Wine attendees won tickets to one of their many Friday night shows.
The Revival is new to the Hyde Park community but it’s already making waves by offering Improv classes for kids and adults. I’m thinking of taking the improv class to help me with public speaking. I need to loosen up a bit.
The classes are really what makes Revival more than a comedy theater. For parents looking for new experiences for their kids or even themselves, a Revival class is perfect.
A lucky Masterminder won two tickets to one of their sketch comedy, stand up or improv shows that happen Thursday – Sunday.

In These Streets: 2015 Chicago Food Truck Fest

Have you ever had food so good that every time someone brings up something mildly related to it – you start reminiscing about the time you had the most amazing so and so. Well I have.

Let me take you back 😉 It was October of 2014. Me and my girls where at the Chicago Wine Riot at Union Station for my 30th Birthday. Sampling over 250 wines naturally gave me the appetite of a 300 pound man. And just like any good Chicago event, food vendors where there to take advantage of drunk Chicagoans.
Not just any food vendors. The best freakin Italian Beef slider maker in Chicago. Mannnnn! I haven’t had a good Italian beef since my family moved from the westside of Chicago.
The Slide Ride’s Italian Beef slider with provolone cheese and hot peppers – was love at first bite. I’ve been talking about this Italian Beef for months. I can’t tell you how many times Randy (My Husband) has heard about those damn sliders. Unfortunately, I could never make a lunch connection with the Slide Ride’s food truck.
Union Station was the first and last time I met my Italian Beef soul mate – until the Chicago Food Truck Festival.
My best friend gave me the dets on the festival happening not to far from our place. I painted this lovely picture of adventure so my family would want to come along – when really I was on a hunt for the Slide Ride truck. Lucky for me my husband was hungry and our son was anxious to play catch outside. We could execute all of our wants in one location. Happy Wife, Husband and Kid – Happy Life.

My husband hadn’t experienced the greatness of the slider so this guy wanted to walk through the entire festival before deciding what to eat. Not me – I locked eyes with the Slide Ride truck and that was about it. The 3 sliders for $10 gave each of us the fix we needed. Now the Slide Ride had the whole family hooked. Randy walked around for another hour before deciding to go eat another 3 sliders. Yeah people – It’s that serious!
There was another piece of goodness I had to try before leaving the food truck festival – Da Lobsta. Let me tell you hunny. Da Lobsta was Da Bomb.
The sandwich was $14 which caused some folks to jump out of line, but this lady (talking about myself) was determined. The garlic bread stuffed with seasoned fresh lobster meat was EVERYTHING. I wanted another one, but the way my bank account is set up – I couldn’t pay $14 for another sandwich.

It will probably be another 8 months before I indulge in the delicacies of Da Lobsta and Slide Ride. For now I’m cool knowing that I can find my 2 favorite food trucks at the yearly Chicago Food Truck Festival.
