How Does It Feel to be 30? Depends On Who You Ask

Last weekend we celebrated my bestfriend’s 30th birthday. It reminded me of when I turned 30 last year. People ask you the same question.

How does it feel? What kind of question is that. Am I instantly suppose to start wearing depends and using my senior discount. It’s not 65 people. The most amazing thing that happens is your license expires on your birthday. Which, reminds you that you have to stand in the longest line ever at the DMV. And they don’t even sing happy birthday to you. Crazy!

Now, for many 30 is the sign of the end of youth. It’s a time when some women start using more anti aging cream and panicking over wrinkles and opportunities lost. We start thinking about where we thought we’d be and what we thought we’d have.
That’s no way to live life. Come on. I’m standing with Jay-Z on this one. “30 is the new 20. I’m so hot still. Better chick. Better automobile.”

My boyfriend, ride and confidence are much better at 30. I feel more comforable than any other time in my life. My bestie said the same thing. It’s like I’ve accepted myself for who I am and who I’m not.
My late teens and twenties challenged me to face my weaknesses and work on myself. Although I didn’t have much (still struggling, but blessed) I still felt like I was growing into a woman I could be proud of. I learned to rely on myself for encouragement.
All those lessons my mom taught me, suddenly came in handy. Now maybe, I wouldn’t be so confident if I hadn’t accomplished some of my personal goals (I have a bus load more to work towards.)
So that brings me to this – how you feel at any age is up to you. I view life as growth and development. If we allow it, every action we take will move us closer to better living. Don’t be ashamed of where you are now, no matter how old you are. I’ve slept on couches, blow up beds and in trailers with no water. It helped build my story and character.
We are relevant at every age. Learn the lesson where you are and rock your age proudly.

Are you hanging with rachet people with no direction?

Let’s get to it.

Have you noticed yourself questioning your circle of Friends. Do you find yourself thinking why am I friends with this person? She keeps up drama, is way to concerned with other people (not in a positive way) and has no direction and aren’t trying to find away to a better life.
This happens to all of us at some point. We begin to wonder how the behavior of our friends and family reflect on us. Yes I said family because family will hold you back from your greatness just as much as strangers.
This light bulb usually goes off when we decide that we want better for ourselves. Naturally we look to someone for advice but when we notice that everyone we hang around is sinking in the same boat as us we start thinking what the hell have I been doing all these years.
It’s a necessary slap in the face that will motivate you to seek mentors and friends on higher ground. Slowly but surely you’ll see what you’ve been missing and gradually move away from people that don’t support your progression. They may start calling you  stuck up but it’s a price all great people must pay. Don’t start acting funny like “You hoes ain’t on nothing” but express your goals to them and welcome them to join if they are serious about achieving goals.
Life has away of clearing your path of distractions once you’ve made the decision to better yourself.
Many will be happy for you. Soon you’ll be the inspiration for others to break out their comfort zone, prompting them to get their life together.
Well, I hope this was tad bit helpful and you can look forward to more live and direct entries like this one. Mrs. Chanel AKA MommyMakinMoves has found her lane.
Get your mind right and the rest will follow.
