I’ve been tired of trying before too. There have been plenty of times I questioned if my effort was worth the headache.
The number one reason I’ve never given up on life is because of those that look up to me. Many of us give out a lot of advice, seldom taking our own good advice. I’ve discovered that taking my own advice is the absolute best way to help others.
Being the oldest grandchild in my family comes with a bus load of responsibility. Cousins and siblings think I’m cool, therefore they look to me as an example.

My little sister may be my biggest accountability partner and she doesn’t even know it. What she thinks of me matters. How she portrays me matters. I am one of her first examples of the woman she wants to become.
Of course, I want her to be much greater than me. Truth is tho, she’ll learn the basics from the women she spends time with daily. I could just be like,
“Well, I don’t have time to worry about what she thinks.”
That’s a response rooted in selfishness.
We can not improve the world through selfishness. If we don’t care enough to set the stage for those after us, what will the stage look like?
I’m filled with joy when young adults say to me, “I’ve seen you struggle and overcome your obstacles. If you can make it, I can too.”
The lessons from our challenges should not die with us. We overcome so we can help others avoid the same mistakes and progress at faster speeds.
This week, I challenge you to invest into the life of someone else. It’s worth it.
