Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice is one of my favorite books of all time. To read something that documents the lives of black folks that pulled themselves up by the boot straps to create massive amounts of wealth for themselves gives me chills.
Not sure about you but I don’t have many rich uncles (no rich uncle) that share their rise to power. Books are the relatives and friends we wish we had. Every one’s complaining about the state of black America and our dependence of celebrity influences. Well those are the people sharing their success stories. For example: If someone in my neighbor hood is great at investment, they probably don’t want to make that public. Lessons are so much better when they come from someone we trust but not many are sharing their personal success stories.
The reality is the people that have the knowledge hold it hostage.
Enough of my ranting. My point is we don’t have to wait on anyone to give us knowledge because it is ALWAYS ready and available to us.

How Persistent are You?
Here are a number of questions that will allow you to measure yourself against this all important element. Answer these questions openly and honestly in order to uncover those areas of your life where you may lack persistence.
1. Reflecting on my life , can I cite specific cases where I have achieved something of note simply because I persisted?
2. Do I persist in my occupation or line of work?
3. Do I persist in the area of personal development?
4. Do I confront my obstacles or shrink from them?
After you answer these questions honestly write down what you need to do to move forward. It won’t happen over night but you have made a breakthrough by admitting you need help.
